Exploring Pittsburgh - A Trip to Downtown with Caroline Waringa and Zhongyang Qu

We have selected downtown as the destination of the Exploring Pittsburgh Project. Literally, downtown is the center of Pittsburgh. There are many skyscrapers and the headquarters of many reputable companies.

As you can see from the photo (although it is not clear enough),  the headquarter of UPMC locates in downtown and there is a Wyndham hotel which is an international hotel. UPMC is supposed to be the company with the most number of employees in Pennsylvania. In addition, the headquarter of PNC, which is not shown in the picture, is in the downtown area. 

Both 61 and 71 buses can take us to downtown and it only takes about 10 minutes to get there. I directly went to the Point State Park.

That is the Point State Park and there is a huge fountain at the center of the park.

We actually could see the Heinz Field from the park. The Heinz Field is the home to the Pittsburgh Steelers and Panther American Football Team.

We then went to the Market Square, It is a small plaza surrounded by small restaurants.

Finally, we returned to the park before leaving downtown.

That is it. Our downtown trip.

To recap, downtown is a really good place if you enjoy urban settings. However, there are quite a few parks and plazas in downtown where you can enjoy the peace. I recommend that everyone should visit downtown since it is an important part of Pittsburgh.
